Okay, here we go...

I got this new commission recently of a character that... Does not suit my taste, to put it lightly. However I guess you could say I felt it was a challenge, and I've accepted it. Now I'm determined to get it done somehow.

The idea of it is that the viewer is standing on a hill, looking down at the beast which is crawling up the hillside.

This is going to be such a murder to colour.

if hes the big dragon shouldnt one wing have fingers and and stretched skin ?

ugh you are right that would be hard having all three of the most horrid tectures to color on one critter---scales fur and feathers

killersqid: Look at the picture again. It has a total of ten limbs, three pair of legs and two pairs of wings. The membrane wings will be drawn behind the wings you see now.

starred_one: That's not the only problem. The colour scheme is.. Quite horrid. Red and blue are extreme opposites, blending them together looks very strange and off. Thankfully I was given some freedom with the design, I will probably turn the red into hints of purple, that should look a lot better.

That would look beter. Blue and red are complete and total opposites and they rarely if ever look good together

But so far, the sketch is coming on fantastically, and you've made the character look really believable.

Um... wow.. what an ...interesting... ref. Still, Lhune, you could make anything look good, and by the way that sketch is turning out, He'll look fabulous regardless of the Reference

Mwell, as far as colors, the creature is mostly blue, so that's good, lots of options there. The reds can work for you by making a good contrast for things up close.

Trying to sketch out an idea for the background :/.



I figured that in this light, the reds on the dragon would be purple, and I could still make the eyes bright red as that would provide great contrast (and it wouldn't look all too stupid).
